Mary’s has sung everything from madrigals to musical comedies, from folk songs and spirituals to opera. She has performed with professional theatres in America and Europe in well-known musicals like West Side Story, as well as in world premieres of two folk operas and in shows she has created herself.
Mary has created shows for a variety of producers in Brussels including An Evening of Cole Porter, and A Christmas Carousel. Mary was also the lead in A Tribute to Broadway at the European Festival of the Stars. Her one-woman show: Of Cakes Men and Angels premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and then on the continent. Mary was a soloist at the Manchester Streets Ahead Festival in Heaven and Earth.
Since moving to the UK she has been a soloist with Chloe Goodchild and the Global Mantra Choir in London and at the launch of Peace Direct at Covent Garden.
In 2006 Mary created The River of Sound. Together with three very different singers, she combines improvisation and an eclectic selection of songs to create a unique and profound ‘one-time-only’ event. More recently, Mary has been invited to create pieces for: Live Art Norwich, Scratch Nights at The Garage, Pop My Mind Live Art, Dove Street Studios Open Studios, Sing with Pride Choir (A Coming-Out Micro Opera), and The Festival of the Beats.
She is currently working on “BRA_VO!” – a quasi-opera that tackles the modern day deadly sin of over-consumption. that starts with a visit to the Lingerie Department where she meets the Devil. Stay tuned for more!
